Weekend Beer Update

Another holiday-filled weekend, with Denver Beer Festivus on Saturday and a bunch of Christmas-themed events across the metro area. In addition, numerous breweries are doing special winter-warmer releases and offering special deals on gift cards, often with a reward for you if you purchase a certain amount. How could Christmas shopping get any easier than filling up at your local craft brewery?!

Thursday 13 – Monday 24: While not technically a weekend20181205_185319_HDR event, Copper Kettle Brewing Company’s 12 Firkins of Christmas is one of my favorite activities of the year. The title pretty much speaks for itself: 12 firkins starting 12 days before Christmas. Copper Kettle brews up a big variety so check out the schedule to find your style, or come each day for prize at the end.

Friday 14: Although it seems a bit out of season, from 6 – 9 p.m. Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project hosts a pairing of four different cantaloupe saisons with appetizers from executive chef Chris Starkus. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Saturday 15: Once again Denver Beer Festivus brightens the holiday season with about 60 breweries, Seinfeld references, food, and entertainment at the Denver Sports Castle on Broadway. Parking is limited and realistically, with all those breweries it’s probably in everyone’s interest to take public transit or ride-sharing. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Saturday 15: For a more family-oriented experience, Kokopelli Beer Company hosts a Christmas-filled day with a Santa brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m, holiday vendors and a couple of holiday-oriented movies later in the day. Get a buck off pints for wearing an ugly sweater!

Saturday 15: If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, visit River North Brewery for a beer and cookie pairing. From 2 – 4 p.m. get four tasters paired with four cookies. Note: This is a ticketed event.River-North-Taproom.jpg

Saturday 15: In a similar vein, Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project will hold the Gingerbread Invitational, where various local brewing businesses build gingerbread houses to compete for your vote. Additionally, a Christkindlesmarkt will offer arts and crafts from local vendors and special releases from participating breweries will be available.

Sunday 16: Continue the Christmas fun at Living the Dream Brewing Company by making your very own Christmas ornament. From 2 – 5 p.m. you can decorate an ornament for yourself or to give as a gift. The price of the event includes your first beer to get you in the creative spirit! Note: This is a ticketed event.
