Weekend Beer Update

Seems like everyone’s still working off last weekend’s Thanksgiving food coma and shopping hangover as there aren’t a lot of planned events this weekend. I guess everyone deserves a recovery weekend every once in a while!

AveryFriday 30 – Sunday 2: Coffee fan? Beer fan? Get your fix at Avery Brewing Co.’s Tweakend with the release of this year’s Tweak, a bourbon-barrel-aged imperial coffee stout. Avery will also pour vertical Tweak tastings from their cellar and have Tweak-inspired food.

Saturday 1: Fort Collins gets all the action today. McClellan’s Brewing Company celebrates their third anniversary with the release of a winter warmer, while Black Bottle Brewery hits six with special releases & tappings including a vertical of Angry Elf, their barrel-aged American strong.

Sunday 2: Get an 11 a.m. start at Ratio Beerworks’ Hazy Holidaze brunch with an acoustic performance from Red City Radio, brunch food, and some special beer releases. Note: This is a ticketed event.

20180930_170344_HDRSunday 2: Always wanted to learn how to get crafty and sew? Hit up Kokopelli Beer Company for Sipping and Sewing for some sewing-skills education and walk out with a finished Christmas stocking. Sewing starts at 2 p.m. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Weekend Beer Update

The post Halloween weekend serves up a few final thrills and chills, along with a whole bunch of anniversaries. In addition, Saturday is Learn to Homebrew Day and many local homebrew supply stores are offering free classes and other events if you want to take your beer love to the next level! Check out places like The Brew Hut, Broadway Brew Supply, CO-Brew, and many others for information and instruction.

Friday 2: Connect with the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos at Dos Luces Brewery with face painting, sugar skull painting, candy and other treats.

Saturday 3: In what’s probably the first event of the its kind this season, Avery Brewing Co.’s Ugly Sweater Party runs all day, and anyone wearing an ugly sweater gets a free pint of Old Jubilation.20161203_160811_HDR

Saturday 3: Head to RINO for Mockery Brewing’s fourth anniversary with block party offering up live music, special tappings, screen printing and food trucks.

Saturday 3: If downtown is more your game, Jagged Mountain Brewery makes it five years with a special anniversary beer – Belgian Quintuple aged on oak – along with six other beer tappings.

Saturday 3: The longest-tenured brewery to hold an anniversary this weekend is Upslope Brewing Company in Boulder, which makes it a nice round ten. The party will spill out into the back parking lot with over 40 beers on tap, live music, food, games and even a cheese and beer-pairing Happy Hour (ticket event).

FictionSaturday 3: Fiction Beer Company will help ease the transition from Daylight Saving Time with Descent Into Darkness, which taps nine dark beers for you to cozy up with on the long, dark nights.

Saturday 3: Estes Park gets into the time change in its own way with the Fall Back Beer Fest, offering up samples of over 100 beers, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages along with music, food trucks and vendors. Chat with brewers, learn about homebrewing or even walk away with one of the prizes being offered. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Sunday 4: Regardless of what goes on in the stadium, you can still find happiness before next Sunday’s game on the Broncos Beer Bus which starts at WestFax Brewing Company at 11 a.m. and then stops at Joyride Brewing Company,20180621_172209_HDR Oasis Brewery and Zuni Street Brewing Co. before reaching Mile High and looping back to the start. The free bus runs hourly starting three hours before the game so you can even make a couple of loops if you think the game will be particularly painful.

Sunday 4: As usual, the first weekend of the month brings a number of cultural events and Alpine Dog Brewery will host Sunday Night Culture Club with beverages and the photography of Zachary Wilson.

As one might expect, it’s a weekend full of Halloween parties and other spooky happenings at a multitude of breweries. Most involve prizes of some sort so if you’re rockin’ that absolutely killer costume this year get out there and cash in!

Friday 26: Put on your Halloween best and head to Strange Craft Beer for $1 off pints on Costume Night. Strange sweetens the deal for hopheads with a release of their Super FI IPA as well.

Friday 26 – Wednesday 31: Demons take over Avery Brewing Co., Image result for free demon clip artwith the return of the Demons of Ale – The Beast Grand Cru, Samael’s Oak-Aged Ale, & Mephistopheles’ Stout – along with a costume contest on Friday the 26th. Naturally the best costume takes home a case full of demons!

Saturday 27: Tear yourself away from Halloween-themed events and join Little Machine Beer for a brunch to celebrate their third anniversary. Starting at 11:00 a.m. the brewery will serve up brunch food accompanied by live music and a special beer release.Living the Dream

Saturday 27: If brunch is too early for you head to  Living the Dream Brewing Company in the afternoon for their annual BBQ Fest, which as you might imagine will include plenty of pig and beer!

Saturday 27: If you’ve had your fill of BBQ and want to jump back into the Halloween spirit, throw on a costume and head to Westfax Brewing Company for their Night of Crafty Delights with a costume contest, beer & candy bar pairing and apple-bobbing contest starting at 6:00 p.m. The best apple-bobber will receive a prize as well as best costumes in three separate categories.

Saturday 27: Make your happiest nightmares come true with River North Brewery’s Nightmare Fuel Halloween Party featuring the release of regular and barrel-aged Nightmare Fuel coffee stout combined with a doggy costume party, plus trick-or-treat beer & cookie pairings with Good Sugar Baking from 4:00-6:00 p.m.20181024_170427_hdr.jpg

Saturday 27: Do double-duty with your dog’s costume and drop by 4 Noses Brewing Co. before or after downing a few River North beers for their 3:00 p.m. costume contest offering up prizes for winning dogs and their owners.

Saturday 27: Get your pumpkin on at Hops & Pie’s Pumpkin Beer Fest. They will pour pumpkin beers from about a dozen – mostly local – breweries all day for your drinking pleasure.

Saturday 27: Get to Call To Arms Brewing Company early for the20160907_191850_hdr 7:30 p.m. costume contest at their Halloween Rumpus to score some sweet prizes, not to mention specially-printed t-shirts, beer releases and an 80’s DJ.

Saturday 27: If your costume involves a onesie (yeah, that’s kinda random) or you need an excuse to get one, Ursula Brewery hosts a Hallow-Onesie party to coincide with the release of Scary Stories s’mores porter.

Saturday 27: Enjoy a delightful pairing of chocolate and peanut butter as Alpine Dog Brewing Company hosts their Halloween Peanut Butter Cup Stout Party featuring the release of the aforementioned beer plus a costume contest at 9:00 p.m.

Saturday 27: Boulder’s Upslope Brewing Company hosts Swills & Chills with a DJ for some dancing and a costume contest at 11 p.m.

Saturday 27: Further afield, darkness comes to New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins as Darkness Pours 2018 ushers in drinking, dancing, and a costume contest. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Saturday 27:  Take a trip back to the 1990’s at Ratio Beerworks‘ Halloween Party with a Green Day tribute band. They’ll feature costume contests throughout the night along with special beer releases. The party starts at 8:00 p.m.

Sunday 28: If the 80’s is more your style then head to Seedstock Brewery’s Beers For Fears 1980’s-themed Halloween Party. Watch classic Halloween movies while sucking down $4 pints.

Monday 29: Strange Craft Beer bookends the weekend with a Beer ‘o Lantern carving at 6:00 p.m.

Hopefully by now everyone has recovered from their Great American Beer Festival hangover and perhaps found a new favorite brewery or beer at the Fest. Life goes on, and this weekend offers up a number of fall-themed brewery events including several Oktoberfests across the metro area.

Friday 28 – Sunday 30: Munich comes to Boulder at Avery Brewing Co.’s Oktoberfest, with a special beer menu and free Kaiser for anyone in a traditional German outfit.reichstag-entrance.jpg

Friday 28 – Sunday 30: If RINO is more your scene, Black Shirt Brewing Co. celebrates their sixth anniversary all weekend with special releases (actually starting Wednesday), creative beer slushies and cocktails, Beer, Bacon and Bluegrass on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday.

Saturday 29: Oktoberfest makes a stop at Seedstock Brewery from 5-11 p.m. with a special Hell tapping, plenty of Oktoberfest beer, polka music, contests and free mugs for those in traditional German attire. A meat-heavy food20170808_182550_HDR truck rounds out the Germanic picture.

Saturday 29: Join Brewability Lab in celebrating their second anniversary with music, a mobile cigar lounge, a yoga bus and a pop-up shop.

Saturday 29: Load up on numerous can and bottle releases at Fiction Beer Company’s fourth anniversary party. In addition to the takeaway options,  enjoy special tappings, live music and limited-edition glassware on their special day.

Saturday 29: Howdy Fest Rides into Lafayette with music, food, and a special release briar-common-sign.jpgfrom The Post Brewing Co. along with pours from a number of other area breweries.

Sunday 30: Enjoy a preview of Briar Common Brewery’s upcoming anniversary beers at their five-course beer-pairing dinner. The first seating starts at 4:30 p.m. but if demand calls for it they will add a later seating. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Weekend Beer Update

Just a handful of events this weekend including a bunch of anniversaries north of town. Field trip, anyone?

Saturday 4 – Sunday 5: Cool off in the mountains at Keystone’s Bluegrass and Beer Festival, where over 40 Colorado breweries will pour their best. Of course the festival will also have plenty of music and food to accompany the beer. Note: This is a ticketed event.

AverySaturday 4: Carrying over a long-standing tradition from their original location, Avery Brewing Co. goes all-out for their annual birthday bash and this year their anniversary party will be extra-special, as Avery turns 25! They’ll be tapping into their deep reservoir of beer excellence and your ticket gets you pours of over 90 beers, plus live music and a commemorative glass. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Saturday 4: Odd13 Brewing celebrates five years with a street party offering up loads of bottle, can, and taproom special releases.

Saturday 4 – Sunday 5: Even further north, Purpose Brewing and Cellars  in Fort Collins will hold a first anniversary party with music, food, outdoor games, and of course plenty of beer!

 

Going Fast – Avery Beer Invitational

AveryAlthough it’s not scheduled until June 9, Avery Brewing Co’s inaugural Beer Invitational is nearly sold out – with good reason! The event will feature over 200 beers personally selected by the Avery team in every style and format imaginable. Get your tickets now or risk being left out!

Weekend Beer Update

With the Monday holiday it’s a jam-packed weekend of celebrations to usher in the new year and then recover from all that celebrating. Numerous breweries are hosting New Year’s Eve parties as well as New Year’s Day recovery parties so whatever your mood you should be able to find a reason and place to celebrate 2018.

Saturday 30th: New Year’s Eve Eve celebration at Station 26 Brewing Co. with a live band playing songs from musicians who passed away in 2017.

Sunday 31st: Start your festivities early at Avery Brewing Co. with their New Year’s Eve Brunch beginning at 11:00AM and featuring beer flights and a long menu of delectable dishes.

Sunday 31st: If you want to continue on the gourmet food and beer train, head over to Copper Kettle Brewing Company for their annual Beers & Cheers NYE Black-Tie Dinner featuring four courses of beer and food pairing. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Sunday 31st: And finally, if you want to skip the long lines and cover charges at clubs, many of our local craft breweries are having special New Year’s Eve parties featuring special tappings, live music, and other fun. Some of the breweries with festivities are Fiction Beer Company, Beryl’s Beer Co., Ratio Beerworks, and Caution Brewing Co.

Monday 1st: Get right back on the horse with a Hangover Brunch at Ratio Beerworks from noon – 3:00.
