Weekend Beer Update

Whether by coincidence or careful planning around the holiday, this Mother’s Day weekend has few coordinated events. Most of the activity centers around feeding mom some beer, although a large number of breweries are doing special releases throughout the weekend. The weather looks good and patios are open, so there shouldn’t be any shortage of excuses to skip the craft brews.

Saturday 11: Highlands Ranch is getting their own Beer Bus which stops at four breweries: Grist Brewing Company, Resolute Brewing Company, Lone Tree Brewing Company, and newcomer Peak View Brewing Company. Starting at 1 p.m., it’s the typical brewery bus deal – five bucks for a ticket and you get a free future pint when you complete all four breweries. Start your journey at any of the participating breweries. Note, the Grist location is the Park Meadows one.

Sunday 12:  Happy Mother’s Day! Bring mom out for beermosas and breakfast food at 105 West Brewing’s Mother’s Day Brunch in Castle Rock.

20180212_175021_HDRSunday 12: If mom lives up north, do brunch at Kokopelli Beer Company instead. They’ll have pancakes, fresh fruit crepes, mimosas, sangrias, specialty drinks, and Bingo. Game starts bright and early at 11:30 a.m.

Sunday 12: If mom’s more of a downtown gal, take her to Ratio Beerworks’ Cirque & Eclat Mother’s Day Brunch where they’ll serve up an all-you-can-eat buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along with plenty of Ratio beers of course. Note: This is a ticketed event.  If this all sounds too good to pass up, rumor has it you don’t necessarily have to be a mom to stop by and enjoy.

Weekend Beer Update

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  There are plenty of great happy%20memorial%20day%20clipartbeer events happening up and down the front range, and the weather is looking great for patio time. One of my favorite plans involves an active outdoor morning followed by a relaxed afternoon and a few brews!

Friday 25: Another brewery comes to the metro area with the soft open of Burly Brewing Company in Castle Rock.

Friday 25 – Monday 28: Up north, the long weekend lets 4 Noses Brewing Company squeeze in 4 days of 4th anniversary fun including special releases, food, and live music.

20170722_130505_HDRSaturday 26: Get your fix of heavy metal and goat (yeah, that sounds weird) at Black Sky Brewery’s 4th Annual Goat Roast. Goat starts at 2:00, bands at 3:30.

Saturday 26: Hop on up to Golden for Mountain Toad Brewing’s five-year anniversary bash with special tappings, food, bands, and beer & ice cream pairing. With the Saturday forecast of 90+ I think they’re on to something with the ice cream!

Saturday 26: Enjoy the sunny weather and join up with WestFax Brewing Company’s Bikes and Breweries circuit. Participants receive $1 off beers while cycling between Westfax, Joyride Brewing Company, Hogshead Brewery, and Seedstock Brewery and upon completion get a free beer to celebrate. The seven-mile loop starts at noon and will involve both path and street riding.

Saturday 26: Odell Brewing Company rolls out over 40 of their beers including pilot-system brews and barrel-aged offerings at their Small Batch Festival in Ft. Collins. Note: This is a ticketed event.

Sunday 27: Take your last runs for the season and then kick back with brews from over a dozen breweries at Arapahoe Basin’s Festival of the Brewpubs. Having been up last weekend I can say that the snow’s pretty thin and once the afternoon sun gets to work you’ll be ready to call it a day with a bunch of beers and live music.

Sunday 27: The holiday Sunday is a slow one for events but if you fancy a drive and/or sour, head up to Ft. Collins for New Belgium Brewing Company’s 20 Years of Sour Celebration.

Monday 28: Memorial Day brings us Briar Common Brewery’s Summer Crushable Party with the release of four new beers, BBQ, games and prizes.

Littleton – Highlands Ranch Loop

Another long ride similar to the Southeast Ride, this one cuts through a state park with a reservoir, features scenic trails and mountain views, and for better or worse takes on some big hills. A couple of differences include a much more rural setting, some on-road stretches along high-speed Santa Fe, sections of gravel trail, and a railroad crossing.

The ride starts at the Breckenridge Brewery Farmhouse, 20170301_174707_hdr1.jpgwhere you can get primed for the long ride with both tasty homestyle food and beer served either in the farmhouse building, on one of its screened patios, or in the expansive beer garden. The Farmhouse is extremely busy but if you start early parking shouldn’t be an issue and the service is always efficient. The beer selection can be hit or miss, so maybe just have one before grabbing your bike, riding out the main entrance, and heading left to launch southbound on the South Platte River Trail (Mary Carter Greenway on some signs).
